“By his blessing they multiply greatly” Psalm 107:38a
“And God blessed them, saying, ‘Be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.’ Genesis 1:21b.
God is multiplying His creation: notice the children, puppies, kittens, bird’s nests filled with eggs (Ringed Neck Dove nest shown below), caterpillars (Painted Lady larva shown below) and plants bearing seeds. Spring is here.
Field Crescent (featured image at top of post) and Melissa Blue butterflies are abundant in our meadow this Spring. Notice the female (mixed of colors) raising her abdomen to release pheromones to attract a male (bright blue). The whole process of multiplying is wonderfully purposed by God.
However, there are hazards because of man’s sin – the world is not in its original state. Birds and spiders and hail storms limit the potential beauty. I saw a female Melissa Blue get wrapped up for lunch by a spider as I was taking these photos. I expect in the later days that the Spirit will move in God’s people so that they will seek to walk in God’s paths (Micah 4:1). Then along with lions (Isaiah 65:25) maybe spiders will also be changed to consume vegetation . Come Lord Jesus.
I noticed a variety of other blue butterflies in our meadow: Greenish Blue, Lupine Blue, Boisduval Blue and Silvery Blue (shown below). The more I learn, the more I see. There is no end to knowing God and how He provides for His creation. My encouragement is to be used by God to steward His meadows so they are teaming with life and His glory.
And I will multiply on you man and beast, and they shall multiply and be fruitful. And I will cause you to be inhabited as in your former times, and will do more good to you than ever before. Then you will know that I am the LORD. Ezekiel 36:11
